Here are a few of our other favorites during a crazy two weeks in this beautiful country:
Best fans: You have to hand it to the Dutch. Not only did they have the "Great Orange March" through the streets of Lisbon to the semifinals, but they had the wackiest outfits, too. One guy was wearing a hat with wooden slippers glued to it.
Best moment: The penalty-kick victory for Portugal over England in the quarterfinals. Drama, controversy, and a star player (David Beckham) failing at a key moment.
Best city: Porto. The way the city rises up from the river, with the Port wine cellars at the base and the winding cobblestone roads leading to the top, makes this a great place to wander around -- even if your legs are burning when you're done.
Best food: The eel stew was, uh, interesting. But we preferred the salted cod, with the vinho verde (green wine).
Best comment: "His last name is Deco. What's his first name? Art?" -- from an unknown English fan
